I myself am a HUGE football fan, so Super Bowl Sunday is always a great time for me and my friends. Every year, we all head over to the same guy’s house, cook burgers, usually cheer for the underdog, you know have a good ole’ time. Another thing we always look forward to are the commercials, and just like most house parties a hush falls over the room as the commercials start up. Which is the ONLY time of the year that this happens across America. No one watches commercials anymore, except during this game. Isn’t it good to be an internet marketer?
See what I thought about this year’s batch of commercials below…
The “Big Money” companies no longer monopolize the content that we all hear, see, and read. WE are in control of whats popular and what gets the most airtime thanks to Social Media, and the individuals that learn and perfect this craft. Those people are putting themselves ahead of the curve — and at the same time creating for themselves a more profitable and effective way to grow their business. And when it is broken down into 8-Day’s worth of Bootcamp Videos I believe that ANYONE can learn how to take advantage of this Disruptive Shift in the marketing industry. Thanks to TiVo and DVRs commericals are OUT and OUR peer-reviews are IN. Let’s capitalize on this groundbreaking shift.
Cheers.

Amen brother! Big media is no longer in control of our attention. Mass customization of information delivery is here to stay. The major disruption is not in delivery, however, but in the way we customize how we choose to receive it. We live in a many-to-many world today, and those that choose to embrace this fact have the keys to the bank in their hands.

Isn’t that the truth! It’s really interesting to watch the major transitions that are happening in the marketing world today and great to be part of it.
Keep up the good work!

Mass marketing is so old school
The future is in niche marketing, and today’s technology (pay-per-click in particular) is the perfect tool for advertising to your niche. I don’t know how many beer drinkers and pizza eaters are Googling for beer and pizza, but I can tell you that beer and pizza brokers (as well as everyone else) is moving to social media rather than traditional mass media because that is where, ironically, the masses are.
A very entertaining Bud Light commercial went viral on Facebook not that long ago. I think we’ll see a lot more of that. Better still, I believe WE will get paid for the distribution of such ads through our own social media channels (far fetched?).
It’s crazy where this is all going. $3.1 million??!! That’s a lot of clicks

There’s no doubt about it, Clay! It’s C-R-A-Z-Y to know that there are businesses out there in the traditional marketing world “burning” thousands if not millions of green dollar bills for advertising!
You would think that they would have caught on to the reality of the new age technology of by now, huh?
All I have to say is that I am fortunate to have not only the time freedom and lifestyle that internet marketing provides, but I am also able to spend tons way less, of my dollars, towards advertising in our online industry.
Can anyone say “Google”, “Flip-Cam”, or “Facebook”?

Hey Clay! Great post. Very shortly after the superbowl I tweeted an article about the fact that COKE opted to go the route of social networking instead of paying the big bucks. Pretty darn interesting and now that I think of it, I don’t think I remember a coke commercial on the superbowl.
Was there on there or did they go social networking all the way??
Anyhow, thanks for the wisdom! Joined your site and am looking forward to many more great posts!
Thanks for all the great comments my wonderful friends! And Debbie, there was a Coke commercial I recall because I am a big Simpsons fan. It wasn’t trying to be funny or dramatic, it was just promoting Coke through the world of the Simpsons and Mr. Burns. Here is the link to the Ad:

Pretty good ad I thought. But yes, Coke has definiteky embraced the power of Social Media (as everyone will soon or be left behind lol!).
Thanks for reading and commenting everyone, I really appreciate it!
